The Lagos State Police Command has taken into custody popular TikTok personality Habeeb Hamzat, widely known online as Peller, following a viral livestream that allegedly showed him driving at extremely high speed while broadcasting live — an act that reportedly ended in a road accident.
According to police authorities, the incident occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025, and quickly sparked public outrage after the footage circulated across social media platforms. The video captured what officers described as reckless and life-threatening behavior, placing both the influencer and other road users in serious danger.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that Peller was arrested after the video drew widespread attention. She disclosed that the suspect is currently being questioned as investigations continue.
“The suspect was observed driving at an excessive and dangerous speed during a live broadcast, an action that led to a motor accident and exposed innocent members of the public to grave risk,” the statement explained.
The police further revealed that the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation. Authorities assured the public that once inquiries are concluded, the findings will be officially released and the suspect will be arraigned in a court with proper jurisdiction.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, issued a strong warning to social media influencers and content creators, urging them to act responsibly and stop using online platforms to glamorize dangerous or illegal behavior.
“The Commissioner of Police strongly cautions influencers, content creators, and members of the public against engaging in or promoting reckless, unlawful, or criminal acts on social media,” the statement read.
Police officials emphasized that Peller’s actions went beyond mere traffic violations, describing the conduct as dangerously self-destructive while also threatening the safety of unsuspecting road users.
“Such behavior will not be tolerated. Anyone found engaging in acts that endanger lives will face the full consequences of the law,” the command added.
The Lagos State Police also used the opportunity to remind motorists to strictly obey traffic regulations, stressing that public safety remains a top priority for the command.
Investigations are ongoing.
