Coroner Restricts Media Access to Mohbad’s Inquest
At the onset of the Coroner’s inquest into the passing of Afrobeats sensation Ilerioluwa ‘Mohbad‘ Aloba, journalists were denied entry to the Magistrate court in Ikorodu, Lagos, without a disclosed reason.
Magistrate Taofikat Adedayo Shotobi, overseeing the case, informed the involved parties that the initial day of the inquest would be dedicated to discussing procedural matters. The actual presentation of evidence is slated to commence on Friday, October 13.
Funmi Falana, representing Mohbad’s family and legal team, affirmed their commitment to presenting witnesses to ensure justice prevails.
Previously, Falana & Falana Chamber, in a letter dated September 18, 2023, had urged the Chief Coroner of the High Court of Lagos State, Justice Mojisola Dada, to investigate the “very tragic” and “mysterious” circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s demise. In response, Magistrate Shotobi initiated the inquest, following directives from Justice Dada.
