Eldee Reveals Reasons for Music Career Pause and International Relocation
Sikirullahi Olanrewaju Dabiri, also known as Eldee The Don, a respected figure in Nigerian hip-hop, has shared insights into his decision to step back from music and relocate abroad.
As a former member of the disbanded Trybesmen group, Eldee explained that he chose to leave Nigeria to find clarity after falling victim to a deception by an advisory firm. This firm had collected funds from investors under the pretense of investing in his music, but instead misused the money.
During an episode of the King of Talks podcast hosted by comedian Teju Babyface, Eldee recounted the circumstances. He revealed, “Shayman introduced me to a gentleman called Tonye Akindele, who had a capital advisory firm. They approached me for a partnership, but behind the scenes, they were mismanaging funds. I was unknowingly funding my music while they had other funding sources.”
Eldee’s realization of the scam and his subsequent decision to address his debts took nearly a year. This unfortunate experience contributed to his temporary hiatus from the music scene and his relocation overseas.
