The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a warning that it may initiate an economic shutdown without prior notice if the price of petrol increases once again. The NLC also expressed concern about the Ministry of Labour and Employment’s duties being taken over by the Inspector-General of Police and the Federal Ministry of Justice. In response, the Presidency mentioned that President Bola Tinubu is committed to alleviating economic hardship. Meanwhile, oil marketers urged the government to address the consistent decline in the value of the Naira against the dollar, which is impacting the pump price of petrol. They also emphasized the urgent need to repair the country’s refineries and improve the road network.
