First Lady Oluremi Tinubu expressed her pride and admiration for the Nigerian Super Falcons during a reception held at the State House in Abuja. She commended the team for their dedication, resilience, team spirit, and the strong sense of national identity they displayed while competing in the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Although the Super Falcons were eliminated in the Round of 16 by England after a penalty shootout, Mrs. Tinubu acknowledged the players’ remarkable performance and emphasized that their unity and unbreakable spirit were the true markers of success. She highlighted the team’s role as role models for Nigerian youth, especially young girls, and praised their representation on the global stage.

President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, thanked the First Lady for the warm reception and assured her that the players would continue to uphold the country’s reputation with their quality representation.

Team captain Onome Ebi expressed the team’s unwavering dedication and hard work to bring the FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy home, pledging to persistently strive to make the country proud on the football field.

The First Lady was joined by the Vice President’s wife, Nana Shettima, and the Senate President’s wife, Ekaette Akpabio, in welcoming the players.
