Famous singer Charles Oputa, also known as Charly Boy, criticized some Muslim youths in Maiduguri for setting fire to posters featuring Davido’s image. The action came in response to the controversial music video of Davido’s new signee, Logos Olori, titled ‘Jaye lo,’ which was heavily criticized by Muslim faithfuls over the weekend.
Expressing his displeasure, Charly Boy took to his Twitter account on July 27, 2023, to condemn the act and question the motive behind it. He questioned whether burning Davido’s posters would improve the youths’ lives or solve any issues in the North. He also pointed out that some of these youths who claim to be devout Muslims engage in illegal activities for financial gain in Northern Nigeria, and he urged them to seek legal means if they have grievances.
Charly Boy’s statement highlights his frustration with the act of burning posters and emphasizes the need for peaceful and lawful ways of expressing concerns or grievances.
