The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to reverse what it perceives as anti-poor policies, including the recent increase in the pump price of petrol. Failure to meet these demands will result in an indefinite nationwide strike commencing from August 2.
During a Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting held at Abuja Labour House on July 25, the NLC made this decision and directed all its affiliates and state councils to immediately begin mobilizing workers, civil society allies, and other Nigerians for the forthcoming strike and mass protests.
More details on the specific demands and plans for the nationwide strike are expected to be provided soon.
