A tragic incident occurred in Iperu community, Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State, where a 32-year-old man named David Shodola, who was suspected to be mentally challenged, beheaded an 84-year-old man named Alfred Opadipe. The police received a call from an informant and quickly responded to the scene. However, when they attempted to arrest the suspect, he violently resisted and attacked the police officers with a machete. In the process, the police were forced to neutralize the suspect.
According to the police, there was no prior report of the suspect being mentally challenged, indicating that this incident was a shocking and tragic event.
