The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has issued a warning about anticipated heavy to moderate rainfall on Sunday in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its neighboring states. The Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has forecasted the heavy downpour and also predicted moderate to heavy rains in other states such as Katsina, Kano, Bauchi, Plateau, and Taraba. The agency has placed its emergency response team on high alert and directed the update of flood contingency plans to ensure a quick and effective response. Residents are advised to heed the early warning, avoid driving or wading into flooded areas, clear blocked drains, and relocate if they reside on water channels. The emergency toll-free number 112 has been provided for residents to call in case of emergencies.
