Barcelona Secure Signing of Oriol Romeu from Girona
Barcelona has officially announced the signing of defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu from Girona. The Catalan club has been in search of a suitable replacement for Sergio Busquets, who departed this summer after his contract expired.
Romeu, a former La Masia graduate, met the criteria set by the Barcelona management, leading to the completion of the deal. The acquisition of Romeu marks Barcelona’s fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Inigo Martinez and Ilkay Gundogan as free agents. Additionally, the club recently confirmed the signing of Brazilian talent Vitor Roque, although he will not join until 2024.
Barcelona is aiming to continue their active spending in the summer transfer window. Club president Joan Laporta has revealed plans to bring in a new right-back and one final midfielder to further strengthen the squad.
