Four people killed and 11 others injured in an auto crash on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway

A tragic accident occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway at the Aiyetoro axis, resulting in the death of four individuals and injuries to 11 others. Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson for the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), confirmed the incident to the press in Abeokuta.

The accident, which took place at 9:59 a.m., was caused by a tire burst that caused the Foton bus involved to somersault into a ditch. The bus, with the registration number AGL 989 YA, was traveling from Ibadan towards Lagos. Among the 15 people on board, three men and 12 women, 11 women sustained injuries, while three men and one woman lost their lives in the accident.

An eyewitness account revealed that the driver’s side tire burst at the Ayetoro axis of the expressway, leading to the bus losing control and rolling into a ditch.

The deceased have been transported to the Idera morgue in Sagamu, while the injured victims have been taken to Famobis Hospital in Mowe for treatment.
