Azman University, headed by Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina, the Founder and Pro-Chancellor, is determined to prioritize quality education as it prepares to commence full academic operations. During the inauguration of the university’s Board of Trustees (BoT) and Governing Council in Kano, Sarina made a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of education.
Sarina affirmed that the BoT and Governing Council would provide support in the initial activities and management of the academic institution. The journey to establish the university began five years ago with Sarina’s desire to contribute to education and the development of students seeking university education. He acknowledged the support and encouragement received from the Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC) throughout the establishment process. Furthermore, the institution plans to offer free education to disadvantaged youths who meet the necessary requirements but are unable to afford university education.
Quality is of utmost importance at Azman University, with a focus on recruiting competent staff, academics, and students. Sarina assured that all the conditions and requirements set by the NUC have been met, and the university is fully prepared to commence operations.
Prince Engr. Arthur Eze, the Chancellor of the University, announced a donation of N200 million as take-off grants for the institution. He also highlighted his strong relationship with the North and his previous support for the region, including a recent donation of N800 million to aid Boko Haram victims.
The inauguration of the Board of Trustees marks a critical milestone in the university’s journey, as emphasized by Prof. Muhammad Yahuza Bello, the Chairman of the occasion and former Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano. With the university obtaining its license five years ago, it is now ready to commence operations and strive for international recognition. The Board of Trustees and Governing Council will guide, support, and lead the management in handling the university’s affairs.
During his welcome address, Mustapha Abdulmunafi Yunusa, the Vice President of Azman University, expressed the institution’s commitment to achieving and demonstrating the power of diversity, learning, and positive impact on the environment and the world.
The members of the Board of Trustees include Barr. Ado Mohammed Maaji as Chairman, Sarki Ibrahim Makama, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, Prof. M.S. Haruna, Dr. Bashir Aliyu, Amb. Mannir Liman, Prof. Oguga Ikpeze, Zainab Abdulmunafi, and Mustapha A. Yunusa as Secretary.
The members of the Governing Council include Dr. Abdulmunafi Yunusa as Chairman, Prof. Fatima Batul Mukhtar, Prof. Kabiru Isah Dandago, Prof. Aminu Kabir, a representative of the National Universities Commission, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata, a representative of Bayero University Kano, Haruna Aliyu Yar Gaya, and Mustapha Abdulmunafi Yunusa.
