Mr. Abosede Oluwaseun, a former aide to the immediate past Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has stated that any attempt to suspend the former Osun State Governor from the All Progressives Congress (APC) will fail.

Meanwhile, the APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, has declared that the warning is illogical and belated, as Aregbesola and his associates, through their anti-party activities, have voluntarily distanced themselves from the party.

In a statement on Friday, Oluwaseun, a former factional youth leader of the party, revealed that the immediate past governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola, and four of his former aides are orchestrating plans to suspend Aregbesola from the party.

“We have it on high authority that the Ilesa Ward 8 executives of the APC, which is Aregbesola’s ward, were manipulated on Wednesday to sign a blank sheet of paper on the false pretence that the APC state leadership wanted to secure their commitment to the progress of the party.

“We are also reliably informed that a significant amount of money was given to the ward executives by an emissary sent by Oyetola and other conspirators.

“We note that having failed in their various attempts to blackmail Aregbesola, Oyetola and others have resorted to unjustly suspending Aregbesola in an attempt to hinder reconciliation between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We want to state clearly that any attempt to suspend Aregbesola will fail.”

However, Lawal, in a statement issued by Osun APC’s Media Director, Kola Olabisi, dismissed the information as fear of their shadows and a mere attention-seeking act.

To effect the formal suspension of Aregbesola, the former Minister of Interior must justify the compelling reasons why he and his co-travellers are eligible to retain their membership in the party, which they have been working against.

“It is evident that with the suspension allegation, Aregbesola is testing the waters for a sinister plan he has in store for the party in Osun State.

“The Osun APC does not need to waste its time on Aregbesola and his co-travellers, who have voluntarily distanced themselves from the party by walking away from it and abandoning their statutory responsibilities to the party.

“When was the last time Aregbesola and his associates were seen at the ward, local, state, senatorial, and federal party engagements to justify their continued loyalty and membership in the APC in Osun State?”
