ISWAP, the Islamic State of the West African Province, has reportedly issued a threat to farmers, fishermen, and herders in the Marte local government area of Borno State, Nigeria. This comes after sustained airstrikes by the Nigerian Airforce against the terrorist group. ISWAP has accused these groups of spying on their activities and providing information to the Nigerian military. The decision to ban them from the area was made in response to heavy losses suffered by ISWAP from the airstrikes, including the elimination of top commanders and destruction of their infrastructure. The airstrikes targeted various locations where the terrorists were hiding or regrouping, resulting in the deaths of numerous fighters and the dispersal of others. The people in the North East region of Nigeria have expressed confidence in the leadership of the Nigerian military to defeat the remaining terrorists in the area.
