The Federal Government of Nigeria is preparing to commence the trial of approximately 2,000 Boko Haram members who have been arrested for participating in terrorist activities. To handle the special trial, eight judges have been lined up, and the proceedings will take place in Kainji, Niger State, under the supervision of Operation Safe Corridor, a special security outfit. The Ministry of Justice had previously arranged the trial during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, but logistical issues delayed its start. The judges and lawyers involved in the trial will be transported to the location by the Nigerian Air Force. The trial is expected to address the involvement of the suspects in Boko Haram’s attacks and insurgent activities in various parts of the country.
