During the first inaugural lecture of Chrisland University in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Professor Babafemi Badejo expressed his opinion that if President Bola Tinubu were to assume office, his administration’s efforts in combating corruption would be even worse than that of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who himself fell short in this regard. Professor Badejo noted that while Tinubu may excel in other areas based on his recent actions, he has not emphasized the fight against corruption. The professor also criticized the lack of political will from successive administrations, including President Buhari’s, in addressing corruption. He further commented that he doubts Tinubu would fare any better, even if he intended to tackle corruption, as previous efforts have been marked by superficial measures and selective prosecutions. Professor Badejo emphasized the importance of holding everyone accountable for corruption, regardless of their relationships or status, and called for top leaders to demonstrate zero tolerance for corruption through personal examples.
Professor Badejo, believes that if Tinubu government’s approach to fighting corruption would be even less effective than that of his predecessor, President Buhari.
