Boxing news: Anthony Joshua makes NEW offer to Deontay Wilder for Wembley showdown
ANTHONY JOSHUA’s team have made a fresh offer to Deontay Wilder for an April showdown at Wembley.
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, promised a new deal would be put forward to the American’s team after the WBO, WBA and IBF champion’s win over Alexander Povetkin.
It is believed that offer is in excess of £15.5m ($20m).
WBC heavyweight champion Wilder is due to face Tyson Fury on December 1 in Los Angeles.
But Joshua’s team want a deal agreed for their April 13 date at Wembley before Wilder steps into the ring against Fury.
He wrote: “So now a new improved offer has been made to Wilders camp let’s see if they will finally agree to a meeting to discuss or not.
“Fans will find out if both sides really want this fight and I know AJ does. No obstacles from our end so just waiting for a response.”
It is understood to be around £4m more than the last offer made to the American.
They are currently in Los Angeles on the third leg of their three-city promotional tour for that fight.
Wilder’s team made an offer of around £38m to Joshua earlier this year but they turned to Fury when it was not accepted.
