Bayern Munich v Real Madrid: Why I fear Sergio Ramos more than Ronaldo – Effenburg
Bayern Munich legend, Stefan Effenburg, has advised his former club side on the very Real Madrid player to watch out for when the two teams clash in the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.
Bayern Munich host Real Madrid in the first leg of their semi-final clash at the Allianz Arena and Effenburg believes Sergio Ramos, not Cristiano Ronaldo, should be feared in the Spanish giants’ line up.
Ronaldo has been in red hot form, hitting 15 goals in the competition in 10 games.
The Portuguese superstar is hoping to reach his sixth Champions League final next month and land the title for Real for the third year on the trot.
He has a good record against Bayern, having scored nine times against the Bundesliga giants in Europe.
While Ronaldo strikes fear into the mind of any opponent, Effenburg doesn’t think he’s the main threat. Instead, he picked Sergio Ramos.
Effenburg told Spanish paper AS, “Cristiano is an important player, but the key player is Sergio Ramos.
“I did not want to play against him.
“I do not lie when I say that Madrid would not have won so many titles without Ramos.
“The same applies to Toni Kroos.
“His commitment has helped Madrid make the final step towards the world elite.
