Tinubu Urges Ministers: Prioritize Serving Nigeria, Not Regions or States

President Bola Tinubu inaugurated his cabinet 84 days after assuming power, directing the 45 ministers to focus on serving the nation with “integrity, dignity, and deliverance,” rather than catering to their individual states or regions.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized that the country is grappling with significant challenges and the ministers must promptly implement overdue reforms to restore public confidence in the government.

Tinubu emphasized that their roles extend to serving the country as a whole, not just specific regions or states. He emphasized the need to regain public faith in government and work collectively for the country’s progress.

The President also highlighted the importance of living up to the expectations of Nigerians and urged ministers to hold one another accountable.

The cabinet members’ portfolios were assigned earlier, and the successful ministers reported to their respective ministries soon after taking their oaths.

Additionally, President Tinubu tasked the Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, and the Minister of State, Nkeiru Onyejeocha, to negotiate with Organized Labour regarding the removal of fuel subsidies, seeking resolutions to ease the current challenges faced by workers.

In this new administration, the ministers were urged to be proactive, respectful of protocols, and diligent in their duties to address the nation’s needs.
