The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) strike has led to the discharge of patients from hospitals across Nigeria. Only critical patients are left on admission, as the resident doctors continue their nationwide total and indefinite strike. The strike, which has affected tertiary health facilities, has left hospitals with few consultants and house officers providing skeletal services to patients with serious complaints. Despite the Federal Government’s announcement of a 25 percent salary increase, the striking doctors remain firm in their demands. The NARD insists that the strike will continue until the government addresses their demands and negotiates with them.
