The Federal Government has expressed concern over the vandalization of metal components on the Second Niger Bridge and warned that the bridge may be blocked if such activities continue. The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Mr. Mahmuda Mamman, visited the bridge and called on security agencies to increase surveillance to curb the miscreants’ activities. He emphasized the need for collective responsibility to safeguard the bridge, which is a massive investment aimed at easing the movement of goods and services in Nigeria. The government is also working with the contractor, Julius Berger, to address security concerns and complete the project in the next three weeks.
