Cute Abiola is set to face prosecution for disrespecting the Nigeria Police Force by misusing their uniform in his skits. The Nigeria Police Force has expressed its intention to take disciplinary action against the skit maker, Abdulgafar Ahmad, also known as Cute Abiola, due to his unauthorized use of the police uniform.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and released on Thursday. The statement condemned the two skits posted on Cute Abiola’s social media handles on 20th and 24th July 2023, where he portrayed a highly disrespectful and derogatory image of the police uniform. Such actions are considered a direct violation of Section 251 of the Criminal Code and Section 133 of the Penal Code Law.

The Nigeria Police Force emphasizes that while Nigerians have the right to enjoy their fundamental human rights, they are also prohibited from undermining the police institution or violating its provisions, especially regarding the use of uniforms. The police force had previously warned skit makers and filmmakers to refrain from desecrating their uniform or related items.

Abdulgafar Abiola will be thoroughly investigated, and there is a possibility that he will face prosecution for his deliberate actions. The Force remains committed to upholding the sanctity of the uniform and will pursue appropriate legal measures to hold any individual or entity accountable for tarnishing the reputation of the uniform and the institution it represents.

In conclusion, the Nigeria Police Force calls upon all members of the public, including media personalities, to exercise their freedom of expression responsibly and avoid engaging in actions that could undermine public trust in law enforcement institutions.
