A 21-year-old undergraduate student, Augusta Osedion, was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend, Benjamin, in Oral Estate, Ikota, Ajah, Lagos. The incident occurred after a quarrel between the couple escalated into a fight, resulting in Augusta being stabbed to death. Augusta had informed her mother about the quarrel on July 11, but attempts to reconcile them were unsuccessful. Concerned about their inability to contact Augusta or her boyfriend, Augusta’s mother enlisted the help of her daughter’s roommate and went to the boyfriend’s house, where they found Augusta’s car parked but the apartment locked. The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that the victim’s body was discovered with signs of violence, including the female genitalia being severed, and a note suspected to be from the suspect was recovered at the scene. The suspect, Benjamin, confessed to the crime through his Instagram handle, expressing remorse and stating that the incident occurred during an argument and fight. He vowed to turn himself in and accept the consequences of his actions. The police are conducting further investigations into the case.
