The Lagos State Police Command has initiated an investigation into a violent clash between rival cult groups in the Bariga area of the state, resulting in the unfortunate deaths of at least three individuals. The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident and stated that although no arrests had been made yet, the evidence pointed to the involvement of cultists. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots during the clash, which caused panic among residents and those returning home from work. Disturbing video footage circulated online showed the lifeless bodies of the victims with head injuries, and locals were seen trying to identify them. The motive behind the clash remains unclear, but the area has been known to harbor cult activity. Residents expressed grief and frustration over the incident, while social media users called on the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to enhance security measures in Lagos. The police investigation aims to bring the culprits to justice and curb further violence related to cult activities in the area.
